The SRU Summer Jazz Academy provides a rich and entertaining jazz experience for a variety of ages and abilities. Rising 9th Graders through Graduated Seniors, musically proficient Rising 8th Grade students will be accepted. Every year, the camp hosts students who have participated in all-state honors ensembles, as well as young players looking to gain knowledge and experience.

Students enjoy a busy schedule that involves big band, jazz combo, improvisation, jazz theory, jazz history, and lessons/master classes on individual instruments. Also, a longstanding tradition of this camp is the annual dodgeball game, which is a great break from the jazz study!
